Update

Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback in the first phase of engagement.

We are now in the second phase of engagement. The project team has created a draft of the ASP and are asking for your input on the changes.

What Are The Changes

The project team has completed a draft Conrich Area Structure Plan and is sharing it for review. The draft ASP includes proposed amendments intended to ensure the plan remains responsive to current conditions, emerging development trends, and the long-term needs of the Conrich area. Proposed changes include:

  1. Adjustments to the plan boundary, with an expansion to the north and the removal of certain lands to the east that are not anticipated to develop within the timeframe of the plan. These adjustments are intended to focus the ASP on lands with more immediate planning relevance and development potential. Click here to view this particular section in the draft ASP.
  2. A targeted approach to land use planning by focusing the lands identified for industrial development and strengthening interface planning requirements to help reduce potential impacts on nearby residential areas. Click here to view this particular section in the draft ASP.
  3. A "Deferred Development Area" to provide flexibility for future land use decisions, allowing the most appropriate land use to be determined based on the needs and context of the area at the time of application. Click here to view this particular section in the draft ASP.
  4. Opportunities for additional residential development, primarily on the west side of the plan area, where growth is more likely to align with adjacent development patterns and available servicing, while also supporting broader regional housing needs. Click here to view this particular section in the draft ASP.
  5. Addition of "Community Services" lands to support uses that serve the Conrich area, including potential public facilities such as recreation amenities and emergency services. Click here to view this particular section in the draft ASP.
  6. Clerical amendments such as refined policy language, improved mapping and formatting, and clearer direction to guide future development.

Share your feedback on these changes in the online survey below and / or at the in-person open house on April 22, 2026 at Third Academy. (400 Prince of Peace Wy, T1X 1G2) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

About the Project

Rocky View County is updating the Conrich Area Structure Plan (ASP) through a review of the Greater Conrich Area (land outside of the Hamlet). Initially adopted in 2015, the current ASP covers 68 quarter sections of land in the southeast quadrant of the County, adjacent to Chestermere and Calgary.

Following the recent expansion of the Hamlet boundary approved on July 15, 2025, this update focuses on the Greater Conrich Area and its land use strategy. Phase 1 engagement took place during September - October 2025 to gather stakeholder input for the ASP amendment. Phase 2 engagement is now underway to ensure we are on the right track.

Community feedback is essential to this review process. We need your input to ensure the plan aligns with the needs and aspirations of the residents. Your participation will help shape the future of the Greater Conrich area, making it a place that truly represents the community's desires.

Help us validate the ASP!
